I was born in Syracuse, NY, in 1988 to musical parents who encouraged me from a young age.
My earliest musical memories are of my father playing "Johnny Too Bad” by the Slickers and
“I’ll Be Around” by the Spinners, as well as of singing Beatles vocal harmonies with my mother.
From 06-10, I attended SUNY Purchase, studying bass with Doug Weiss and musicology with Arturo O'Farrill.
Purchase in the mid-aughts was a special place to be; the community at that time spawned acts like
Porches, Mitski, Quincy Vidal, Starchild & The New Romantic, Lolawolf, Photay, and Sheer Mag.
I got to see Kendrick right before Overly Dedicated came out.
My friend Nick booked Raekwon, Death, and R. Stevie Moore on the same show.
It was a time of madness. I even remember some of it.
In New York, I’ve performed with, written for, produced, or recorded with a wide variety of acts, including
Gabriel Garzon-Montano, Nick Hakim, Rhye, Onyx Collective, Princess Nokia, Oh Land,
Quantic, James Tillman, Nick Noto, Kitten,
Melanie Charles, IGBO, and Sly5thAve,
as well as - in a former life - a great many jazz artists.
I’ve played at venues in 29 different countries, from Rockwood to Wembley Arena.
My chief influences are James Jamerson, Sly Stone, Prince,
Me’shell, and Stevie Wonder.
I enjoy cooking...and eating.
